The two TH sounds
English has two TH sounds, both made by placing the tip of your tongue between your teeth:
- Voiceless /θ/ — no vibration in your throat: think, three, thank, bath, month.
- Voiced /ð/ — vocal cords vibrate: this, that, mother, weather, breathe.
The th letters are not always pronounced the same way — think uses /θ/ but this uses /ð/. This challenge drills both so the difference becomes automatic.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make the TH sound?
Put the tip of your tongue lightly between your front teeth and blow air out. For the voiced /ð/, add your voice — it feels like a vibrating buzz.
Do you save my recordings?
No. Everything runs in your browser — your speech is analyzed locally and nothing is uploaded or stored.
Is this tool free?
